    Dear Sirs:

Where the mint mark is located it appears to be a raised circle. Almost like a plug.

Any ideas? Perhaps the mint drilled a perfect hole to eliminate mint mark ?

Appreciate your view. Thank you...Robert Winters

Without a decent close-up photo of the mintmark, we can only guess what it may be.

I agree with Chris. Photos are needed for anyone to help you with this.

However, going by what you described, the Mint does not drill holes in coins for any reason. If it looks like a hole was drilled, and then plugged, it more likely than not was for a piece of jewelry, and is PMD, or Post Mint Damage.

Meant drilled hole in the dye. This would explain raised circular plug-type appearance.

    Thank you...rw

Yes, magnified photos would give the best chance of helping. Until then , my best "guess" would be a "D" that was grease filled , and maybe even a little die erosion to make it appear rounded. The mintmark was very small ( some called it a micro-D )

    Welcome to the forum Robert!

Pictures would be nice. Also the mint marks on 1921 Morgans are tiny and sometimes messy. Especially the Denver one, a good magnifier would help determine it.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

Either it could be a '21-D with the center of the D broken off, or it could be some silver solder. Without pictures, I cannot tell you.
