    If you're going for easy and cheap, a tripod should do the job. It's definitely WAY better than hand-held images. However, you will have a dickens of a time getting professional quality images using a tripod. And, if you have a camera more hefty than the little point and shoots that are the size of a deck of cards, then a tripod can be too "flimsy" to hold its position.

    Either way, holding the camera by hand is not going to get you sharp images.
