I have heard about dents and lines (see coin, below I do not know what it is called) in coins caused in manufacturing coins. The first coin is the dented and second is the back with dent in 'cents'. The next three are the same coin with the line on left side. Is there any websites I can go to? I have googled about every combination of words I can think of. Thanks
The dents in the first coin are most likely post mint damage. About the only cause of dents or depressions during minting is a strike through. Usually you can see displaced metal around the edges of the damage to ID it as such. The second coin, the lines running almost horizontally out of the back of Lincolns head are die polish lines. The line from LIBERTY up to IN look like gas bubbles.
