This has something to do with a 1943 S quarter I found the other day. I'm wondering if it's a DD, but I'm having trouble deciding if it is or not. Here is a link to a quarter that looks very similar to mine (basically the same condition): http://cgi.ebay.com/1942-MERCURY-DIME-NICE-COIN_W0QQitemZ260007020953QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting It is not designated as having a DD obverse. Here is a link to a TPG 1943 DD obverse quarter: http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/HNAI/75/349/349098037o.jpg The certified coin obviously is a DD, but my question is this: Is the first coin a DD whose lettering has worn down, or just a plain ol' 1943 S quarter? Opinions? Answers? Thanks in advance.
Im gonna say its just a regular quarter, The doubling on the 1943 is in the date not the mint mark. If there is any doulbling on that quarter it appears to be mechanical.
Thanks. I had a feeling it was. To find a '43 S was great enough; to have it be a DDO would've killed me.
