Right after the Remove you CAC sticker protest in Washington DC on the Mall next Wednesday, we need to start planing the 50th anniversary of Clad Coins. 2016 will be the official 50th year anniversary and most of those clads were produced in 1965 so WE ARE RUNNING out of planning time. So I need help planning the times and dates, and venues for our celebration.

I used to tell people that the cladding was applied explosively using dynamite and the authorities never even considered that the coins might last half a century. So to save a few bucks they only bonded them well enough to last for 50 years. As each coin achieves its 50th birthday it will debond explosively. We'll have to have steel lined pockets and special gloves to count coins.

Be sure to wear your goggles.

    ;)

Googles don't help me where my coin pocket is. And I'm not sure a jock scrap will help in this case either.

why do we celebrate clads? Why not mourn the silver?

Googles? Jock scrap? Can I assume that English is not your mother tongue?

Maybe his eyes bulge out and he needs Googles?

And if he only needs a jock scrap you probably shouldn't mention it because he's probably rather self concious about it. :)

a jock scrap is what you will need if coins explode in your pocket.

What's funny is that when I started collecting in 1957 a 50 year old coin was very rarely seen. There were a few Columbian half dollars and a cull indian cent once in a great while but that was about it. Now we not only have such old coins but once in a while they can be found in nice condition. Even older cents and nickels are in change and the cents can be found fully lustrous.

    Perhaps I'm missing something.

...And we all know how painful that can be. ;)
