1968 Liberian one dollar coin

    Question? does anybody know the silver content of 1968 Liberian dollar coins?

    According to what I have read, Liberia resumed circulation coinage in 1966, but switched to a cupro-nickel composition, thus eliminating the silver content.

    Thank you for the info....I was told they contained silver however I didn't believe it (looking at coin). I do believe that earlier coinage 1961 and earlier is silver is THAT true?

    Yes, I have read that their quarters, halves, and dollars contained silver in 1961.
    Their coinage was approximately 1/8th lighter in weight than US coinage.
