    1982 Penny (P) -- Type of error?

I found this yesterday. What kind of error would you say this is?

    Thanks,
    Philip

die crack..unless extremely large no additional value. I see them all the time from pennies dated in the 80s.

It is a die crack. It is interesting but not really worth much of a premium (if any). If the coin was high-grade uncirculated and didn't have all that gunk it might command a small premium.

This, but from what is visible it looks like a scratch between I and T in UNITED, and oxidization/corrosion around all the letters. Damage.

Unfortunately, this is all I have right now. I took this last night with a loupe and my cell phone... definitely need a better photo set up.

I can't really show a better photo right now but the mark that you see is raised and is coming directly off of the corner of the memorial. There's also a smaller one just to the right.

ok. Well, I'll wait for a better photo :) If it is anything at all, Hobo and Shoewrecky already said what it would be: a die crack. But yeah, man, get yourself a camera :p This photo (to me) looks like a negative image of what you describe. :eek:dd:
