I'm might start roll hunting, but first I need to know some things, like how often do you even find things, and could ya'll give me any advise?

Roll hunting can be a fun thing to do. Depending on your expectations you may find it to be worth your time. You also need to decide what you're looking for. Do you want error coins, silver, copper, nickel clad etc.
I enjoy it. Of course, I work on collecting date / mint mark sets first, looking for errors second, and view finding silver as a neat windfall. If you go into it looking to strike it rich finding silver coins expect to a spend A LOT of time doing so.
How often you find things really depends on the denomination you search and what you define as things worth finding. I like to search Jefferson nickels because I keep anything prior to 1960 as well as 2009s. I typically find between 20-40 such coins per box of $100 in nickels. Sometimes these can be spectacular finds, there was a guy on here who found a gold bullion coin in a roll, as I recall. But these are one in a million. The most typical interesting finds in a box of jeffersons might be a war nickel or a beat up buffalo. But I have found a v-nickel once, and actually I found a civil war era indian head penny once while CHRing. Of course, sometimes you can get a whole box with nothing worth keeping. It's all down to luck.
Coin roll hunting sucks. You will never find anything. I recommend you don't even bother. It is just a waste of time. We all just do it because we are extremely bored losers with nothing better to do, so if we happen to find a 1986 nickel that looks shiny we are happy.
Yes it Can be a very big time drain. It all depends on the amount you want to sort. The more you sort the more opportunities you have to find keepers. If you're thinking about doing this do earn a living, this may not be worth your time. If you enjoy finding coins and the process works for you, then I think coin roll hunting is something you'd enjoy.
