I picked this up a few days ago. It is probably the nicest Morgan that I have. It's a 1879O and I would appreciate all of your opinions on what kind of grade you all think this might be. Sorry for my poor photo skills.

Besides being a tad blurry, I don't see much indication of luster and the color doesn't look right. Was this photoshopped in any way?

The pictures came out kind of dark. I used the enhance feature. The coin is very bright in hand. Just can't get a good picture due to an older camera and the flash puts a heck of a glare across the coin.

The photos above are the original photos with no modifications.

Did you take those photos 6 years ago or is your camera date wrong?
EDIT: I suppose the date was reset recently to the year the camera was bought, probably 2006.

Sorry, the pics are out of focus and can't tell much.

I went back and tried some more pics. Played with lighting and flash on/off. These are about as steady and representative of what the coin looks like in hand that I could get.

Looks whizzed (harshly cleaned) to me.

It does look like it has been harshly cleaned, and as such, would only be worth melt value.

You need to take your photos from directly over head rather than an angle. Do you have a tripod or copy stand? Turn the flash off, and use other lighting. Your lights (at least two) should be set at an angle (about 45 degrees) to each side of the coin a couple feet away. Try placing one light at 10 o'clock and one at 2 o'clock for starters.

Those tiny hairline scratches all over the coin are indicitive of a harsh cleaning, as said above, worth melt.

    Whizzed or wire brushed.

In hand, the coin doesn't show all the scratches. The angle of the pictures definately brings them out. I gave $20 for it. So I'm OK when it comes to silver value. I'll put it in the tube with the rest of the junk morgans.
