    Heh this story is hitting all kinds of websites, 5th site ive seen this posted.

    Still a cool and interesting find. Shame its looking to goto a museum like so many lately.

    I received the news this morning. The Huffington Post commented that the Queen of England may technically own the treasure. I don't know anything about salvage laws in the channel islands.

    WOW!! I see that the owners of the site wish for it to go to a museum. Though that is disappointing, I hope the owners' wishes are fulfilled on this. I know that in my state, if I were to dig up a lump of gold in my yard, I wouldn't own it :(

    In the UK, I thought there was a law that automatically entitled the finder to half of the value of any find (based on what a musuem pays for purchasing it) and the landholder gets the other half. This is part of why so many British finds make the news and don't disappear into the black market.

    the states of jersey have their own laws which may be different from the uk.............
