Here is the best I could do with the image. For all I know the owner could be a member here so lets not knock the coin or the seller. It is hard to tell what is in this 2x2. It appears to be lacking some detail in the "ponytail" area. What bothers me is the Legend lettering. The S in TRUST looks almost up-side-down. The rim looks like it could be a possible proof. Compare what you can of this coin in a 2x2 that I am questioning with a image of a genuine graded Proof 1938 nickel. Graded genuine proof image Thanks for your thoughts.
:dismay: Oh my, It's a typo in the title and I can't figure out how to edit it. It should be 1938 not 1038. Doh!
Hmm. I can't give an opinion with that image. It kind of looks like a 58. I also go nuts when I misspell something in the title, and it can't be edited.
No, I think it is a 1938 nickel, definitely by the looks of that S in Trust without a serif but it still looks odd either way. A 1958 crossed my mind too earlier. I asked the admin to fix the typo in the report a link since I don't think I can. EDIT added : Of course, gbroke, I could be wrong, it could be a 1958. That is a sure possibility.
If it happens again and the 24hr limit hasn't passed, try to edit it with "Advanced" mode and save rather than Quick reply or Save
Thank you desertgem for the advice and to you or whomever fixed the post. I am going to be more careful when entering a title to a topic before submitting in the future. I can always edit the post for spelling and typos.
Image of the coin in the 2X2 is not good enough to tell for sure but I don't think it is. I would say compare the rims but since the Known proof is in a PCGS holder you can't see the rims. The gasket overlaps the rims.
