Hone your grading skills- 1928 $20 St.Gaudens

Well look what came across my desk today ! Guess the grade? Who gave it ?, & What you think it is please .
This one may surprise you guys !

Ngc Ms66

 

WOAH!!! MS-65 NGC

NGC-MS67. Really, it's just a wildd guess-you say you're drooling & it may surprise us, so this is an out of the ordinary guess.

Looking at the coin though, it looks 65.

I think that coin has a shot at 66, but I think NGC graded it a 7.

 

Nice coin---I've seen some like it...my dealer bought a MS65* in a NGC slab the other day---wanted $1,600 for it if I remember right.

I think this one graded MS66....just because its gold...most of the time I think I would grade it MS65.

IMHO it has too many bag marks to make 67---I think this is the case where it is overgraded because of either the coin---or who sent it in.

NGC probably gave it a 67. Based on the photos, I give it a 66...Mike

 

Those obverse scratches really kill the grade. I guessed 65*, but that is a PQ 64 MAX.

 

I would of guessed a 66...Guess I was wrong.
