With the upcoming birth of my first child in July, I am currently building an impressive collection of coins minted in his birth year, 2012. I have also been building up a comparable collection of coins from my birth year, 1984 (yea yea yea, I know, I’m a youngster). I seek a bit of advice inthe later. I currently own the 1984 P & D Uncirculated sets and the 1984 Prestige Proof set. What other items made by the US Mint in 1984 would enhance my collection?
Now that Olympic $10 Gold is a nice coin! I'm very reluctant to pay morethan $100 for a coin without knowing for sure it's authentic, so I may have tosee if I can find this certified or in original packaging with a certificate ofauthenticity, which will add to the price, but it may be worth it!

How about the '84-P & D type "d" reverse quarters? These are really tough in Unc but there are enough to make them doable. The reverse is completely different and can be best seen in the right side of the letter "N" in "UNUM" is much further from the eagle's head than the type "c" reverse. In 1985 this became the standard version for all the later quarters but was modified first.
Cool! I'll have to look into these. I've been meaning to get a copy of the Whitman Red Book Volume on Washington Quarters. I'm sure that will have an overview.
No, actually they aren't listed anywhere yet. They are exceedingly common in circulation though with about 20% and 25% incidence though. People didn't save many rolls and the rolls have had a high attrition so finding these in better than XF is tough.
