Which colors better represent what it looks like in hand?

None of the above. I "juice" my photos to make them look better.

Finally I think I have the issue figured out.

I was shooting in aperture priority, the metering kept wanting to hold the shutter open longer than needed, overexposing my images.

This time I shot in shutter priority, and 1/60 of a second.

I got brave and tried the nickel. It don't look to bad except that Jefferson has a beard.

Tilt your screen up if you have LCD. I see deep pink. And so does Green.

    Hello Detecto,

Remember this toy where you roll the ball through the maze? You can use it to accurately adjust the coin’s angle when positioning your camera & lighting. A picture is worth more than 1000 words.

    Very best regards,
    Collect89

P.S. That is my first 35mm SLR in the picture.

Lol Detecto. If you are not seeing the pink, then your monitor is way off in color.
Your avatar also has a pink background.

It is incredibly pink. Totally color shifted exposure. Just use the "intelligent auto" mode and shoot away. You'd do better than you are doing now.

It's not his camera setting MDude. The pink is his background he uses after he crops the photos. On his screen it probably appears white.

Why does't he just use a normal background the way the rest of us do? It looks like the dime is lying on top of a pair of panties.

Why doesn't this surprise me. Other than to mislead, what reason is there to do this? Are you a "coin enthusiast" or coin photo enthusiast? Being able to properly image a coin is (or should be) to give a quality representation of what it look like in-hand. If you want a coin that looks better, BUY ONE.

We are not messing with you Detecto. It is VERY pink. The lines you just made look white though. Reset your monitor settings. Or if possible, go look on a different computer.
