Hello again. I found this on the reverse of a 1944 Walking Liberty 1/2. There is a ridge behind the AM in America. Being a novice, I am not sure if it is doubled die, error or what... Thanks in advance for any advice.
Looks like a die crack to me and I don't believe those carry a premium. Although if there is something connecting the "ER" in America to the eagles wing, it could be a die clash I guess. Its hard to tell a minor die clash without having the coin to flip over (to me at least).
A die crack usually looks a bit jagged and is sharp and raised, where as a die class usually contours and mirrors a shape on the other side of the coin that corresponds to that spot. Clashed die is literally the dies trying to stamp each other with no coin in between and sometimes they'll imprint a light pattern, usually an outline, onto the other die.
I am thinking it is a die clash. It is not jagged or sharp, and seems to mirror the bottom of Liberty's dress going around her right foot. Thank you for all of the help!
Better shots of the Liberty... Clash? Here are some better shots of the reverse (clash) and the obverse side. I think is show all of the signs of a Die Clash. Seems to be an imprint of the bottom of her dress. What do you think? Thanks, Justin
