I think the photography contests are really wonderful, and because 4th of July is coming up (in US, the patriotic holiday).....
    yay-smiley-1.gif

Post up to three of your own best photos of your coins featuring PATRIOTIC subject or design. From anywhere in the world (don't limit yourself to US coins). Don't just pull photos from the web.

No more than three from any one member, though. Or you might disqualify yourself.

This contest will run until July 10th, so that all who want to can participate.

After that, I will pick between 6 and 15 of what I consider the ones I like the most and you can vote for the one of those you think is the best.

    The winner will get:

    redbookprofed3.jpg

I will ship it nearly anywhere in the world, so that those in the Euro countries, etc. can participate, too. *

*The only way you would not get this book if you win the contest, is if I have to ship to a country that it would cost me be more than about 30.00 to ship it to. If it turns out that the winner of the contest doesn't get this shipped to them because of that, I will substitute a large cent coin of my choosing (obviously not an uncirculated one) and send that, postal regulations permitting. If that still won't work, I will sponsor that person with a subscription to CT for a year.

So the winner will definitely get something of value!!!!

Post your best photographs! REMEMBER.....Patriotic Coin photos! And lastly, you must take your own photos. Do not use anyone else's work.

2 EURO Greece 2010 commemorative- 2.500 years since the Battle of Marathon

The Battle of Marathon took place in 490 BC during the first Persian invasion of Greece. It was fought between the citizens of Athens, aided by Plataea, and a Persian force commanded by Datis and Artaphernes. It was the culmination of the first attempt by Persia, under King Darius I, to subjugate Greece.
The inner part of the coin shows a synthesis of a shield and a runner/warrior symbolizing the battle for freedom and the noble ideals derived from the battle of Marathon. The bird on the shield symbolises the birth of western civilization in its present form.

I can't take credit for any of these, therefore I am disqualifying myself from the contest. I just thought they would be appropriate for the upcoming holiday.

Does it have to be coins I own, or is it just that I had to be the one, taking the picture?

You don't have to own the coin, but it must be your photography, where you had the coin in your possession to photograph it.

And finally, the Indian head cent, the people who lived In America before it ever was the 13 colonies, this coin is a tribute to them and displays how we are true patriots (Forgot to mention, my high school team mascot is a patriot!)

K2CoinsIMG_1875.jpg K2CoinsIMG_1876.jpg Here's K2Coins (from above post). One entry. Both sides count as one entry because they are from same coin, and not penalize for others posting both sides on one combination photo counting for one photo.

Here's his two other entries (put as combined images)
