Thailand. I'm just about to leave for dinner and the theatre with my Beautiful Bride. If no one else has pinned it down by the time I get back, I'll see if I can run it down. It's probably 1 baht.

Do I reply here? this is CONFUSING as hell! BUT THANK YOU-- for telling me what these coins are. My late father got these when he was in SE Asia during that Vietnam War, and I had forgotten what they were.

Right on Doug, as usual! :)

A typical poorly struck example of cu-ni KM#84, approximately 28.5mm, of which 883,086,000 were minted from 1962-82 without change of date. A virtually identical design, with only 3 medals on Rama IX's uniform, was used for 5, 10, 25 and 50 satang (100 satang=1 baht) coins dated 2500 (1950), which were also minted over periods of many years.

I have a few of those 1-Baht coins and some smaller brass ones (I think they are 50 "Satang" and 20 "Satang" coins -- 100 Satangs = 1 Baht). My dad gave them to me after returning from the Vietman War in 1971.

He gave me many South Vietnamese coins as well. Probably the most interesting were the 5-Dong coins, which had a "scalloped" shape. These are probably common, but very interesting.
