I have a question for those of you who have experience with CAC coins...as mine is pretty limited. A couple years ago, I submitted my 1925 St. Gaudens Double Eagle to PCGS and it was graded MS64. I thought the coin has a shot at 65 but did not get it. For those of you who have experience submitting coins or purchasing a lot of stickered coins...do you believe this coin would sticker if sent to CAC. Here are my pre-slab photos which are the best photos I have.

Also, please don't turn this thread into an argument over the value or legality of CAC. I don't care about that and it has been discussed enough IMHO. I just want to know if you think this coin will sticker.

Green at least, those feathers look as good or better than mine which got the green.
Nice color and strike. I hit 85% on my gold submissions, I think nice original skin plays a huge part on gold coins.

I have $245 invested in the coin below, including the $10 it cost for the "gold" sticker.
    I have to wonder....was that $10 worth it....

I think that 64 is the correct grade, so yes, it will get the sticker. Really, I have seen far worse examples get a 65. Your better course of action may be a resubmission, but I think that a CAC sticker is a sure thing.

I voted yes for a green sticker, but I can't say for sure. The CAC coins I have seen in gold usually have a darker more lusterous appearance than the other 64 golds that had a paler gold about them. Granted I have only seen a few gold coins in person with a CAC sticker at the last local show. I think it is worth a shot.

Plays a big part in all, or at the least is more forgiving.

It looks nice from the photos, but I would not be comfortable saying either way without viewing in-hand - and even then. Its clean but a little chattery too, but you can only tell so much from an image. I've had coins not pass on the first trip, and then after taking the long road around, sticker on the second. Fact is (and you probably already know this) no one can give you a "sure thing" answer, especially going on photos. Its not going to sticker just because someone here thinks the grade correct. You can get opinions and that's about it. Since you submitted to PCGS, you know its not been to Jersey before. I will not give you false hope, but will say that for the $10-$12.50 plus two-way shipping, its worth a shot as you have nothing to lose but expenses.

I am not really a gold person but it seems to have too much going on on the obverse fields

Looks solid and premium-quality to my eye.
All I can say is that I see nothing that would keep it from receiving a sticker. :thumb:

Yes it would sticker, unless they were totally crazy that day. The coin is very high in grade, and has incredible eye appeal. If that one isn't "choice," then I don't know what the word means. :)

    Actually, it's a "gem" (MS65)

I know you have a lot of experience with CAC stickered coins. Do you think it has a shot at a gold sticker?

Green sticker likely, gold sticker no. I've always heard CAC is real strict on Saints. Premiums ion 65 Saints is around $600 - because there are so many nicked and marked 65's.

Good to know. I might just send this coin and see if it gets a sticker. I'm sure I can find a dealer who can submit it for me. Does anyone know the normal turn around time for CAC is?

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

My gut says too much obverse field chatter for a 64, but I'm but a novice when it comes to gold, and it's really no more than an uneducated guess.

What's the spread between a 64 and a 64 CAC? I would imagine it is pretty small as compared to higher grades, so I do wonder if it is a good value-bet.

Asked a bit more broadly, what is your motivation in sending it to CAC?

My coins took about two weeks.

Honestly, I just want to try out their service. I have never used it and this is my most valuable piece. However, it has a lot of sentimental value and I'll never sell it...so increasing the value is not an issue. I honestly just want to try it out.

Most valuable piece and sentimental value, I don't think I would let it out of my sight just to try out a service. Maybe pick something that would be a little less painful if it was lost in the mail.

Beautiful St. Gaudens Camaro! I remember you've posted a pic before and you got it from your Grandma or another family member. Truly a treasure!! I didn't vote because I honestly don't know anything about green or gold stickersat all so I would just be blowing air and that's not normally my style. Good luck with your submission tho'!!
