My 1904 o toned MS 64 arrived while I was away on vacation. Got back from St.Simon's Island, and found the coin was even prettier in hand than the original photos showed it to be. Here are my pix---lots of rainbow toning on the reverse, and golden/blue on the obverse. Sometimes, a coin looks even better when you get it home after the auction!!!

I like it. Lots of color and character there...it's a great coin. Only downside is the strike is on the weak side...but a great coin nonetheless.

Thanks everybody. This coin was the type that just made me smile looking at it--not an expensive one at all, but loved the tone. Yes, it is not the strongest of strikes for sure--that date just doesn't generally have great strikes from Nawlins mint for sure,, but the colors made up for it in terms of finding its way to my collection. :):)

Actually, 1904 is one of those years with a very wide range of strike qualities. While weak strikes are common...full strikes are not especially rare and can be found with a little searching.

That said, the color is what makes this coin and no matter the strike...it wouldn't be a great fit in any collection.

True, Camaro. I had a 1904o previously that was blast white and a great strike. It was a 65 and I sold it as part of the complete Morgan set I sold a number of years ago. Honestly, I like this one better, as a result of the color. :)

I think I would take this coin over a well struck blast white example. I personally like variety in my collection. One of my long term collecting goals is to have a high quality complete Morgan Dollar collection. I don't want every coin blast white. I want each coin to be special. Some toners, some blast white, and so on.
