While not really a pocket piece, I do have a fob on my key ring that I made out of a coin. It's a 2009 Lincoln Silver Dollar Commem. I drilled a hole below his bow tie and it came out the other side just above the Gettysburg Quote :smile I'll try to post a pic when I get home from work. Who else carries a coin around?
I think quite a few CT members do (judging by the number of past threads on this subject). Here's a recent one, with another "key chain" illustrated in post #12: http://www.cointalk.com/t205672/
Here's mine andrew. It's on an 1854 S/L Quarter. I haven't been carrying it for long so the stamp hasn't worn much yet. Bruce
I have carried a 1794 LC that was one of the GMM restrikes, but alas I lost it. Lately my pocket piece is a bicentennial Ike dollar - it is a show and tell when I visit banks to see if they have anymore of them.
Would this make a good pocket piece? I would carry it just because it is interesting and already beat up so can't damage it that much.
Nahhhhh - I always preferred carrying gold. When you take out a gold coin to show someone, it tends to get their attention Ever since their inception, 1 ounce AGEs were my preference.
Wonderful choices. I used to carry a 1oz gold maple leaf back when gold was $300 an ounce. When gold broke $1200, I put it in the sock drawer for a rainy day.
Not in airport security. Just saying, from personal experience. Yup, got it back, after every one of the airport police in Schiphol airport scrutinized it.
Here's mine. I also carry a 50 Billion Dollar Zimbabwe Agro-Check, but I'll be swapping it out for a 50 Trillion Dollar Note due to tears.
