Seems to sell pretty high on eBay.

All people do is take about 40 common wheat pennies, a few cull indian heads, and put a good coin on each end, like a civil war token on one end, and a 3 cent nickel on the other. They might have about 10-$20 wrapped up in each roll, and they sell for upwards of $35-$80 on eBay.

I feel sorry for people who buy them, though. There is no such thing as an unsearched roll.

Nobody in their right mind would list rolls of indian head pennies wrapped for over 60+ years, without taking them apart and looking for key coins.

All of these "unsearched rolls" have civil war tokens, seated dimes, 3 cent nickels, etc in them. Rolls were hand wrapped back then, and people would put what belongs in them: pennies. 3 cent nickels, CWTs, seated dimes, etc, would not be in a cent roll.

(Oh no! You're starting to turn into mrbrklyn with all these threads you're starting daily)

It's really nothing new. Every once in a while you DO see an honest dealer who explains EXACTLY what his rolls are. I've only encountered one of his "type" of honesty.

But, as with the other tons of junk that gets sold on ebay, fools (like myself) buy into seller's false claims and the whole "unsearched" idea. :)

I have toyed with this idea myself but I would just sell my wheat cent and silver dime doubles from my sets. A couple teens, some 20s and 30s, most 40s and 50s with a mercury and silver roosie end. This way you know what you get even though many buy into the idea the roll in unsearched and they think they may find a 1909 S VDB. I also saw bids on foreign coin lots with "potential silver" when it is difficult to tell with foreign coins what is what if you are not knowledgable of them.

If you get lucky the seller will put something extra in there to get good feed back :D

This topic has been done to death here and on other forums. The sellers are making their own rolls and seeding them. They have a coin roller/crimper, they buy vintage coin roll paper, stick a semi-key cull or merc or whatever on the end and then sit back and watch the bidiots go nuts.

If sales slow down, stick in a rarity, wait for the awesome feedback and the sales perk right up again.

About a month a go, i bought about 1,000 ' unsearched' wheat cents from a dealer.
He said that he bought them from someone and just doesnt have the time to go through all of them. I was surprised at what I found.... 1909s (1) 1909 VDB (8) 1931s (2) plus many other goodies.

I usually stay away from unsearched rolls. I would stick with BU rolls (pre rolled with BU quality or bank rolled by federal) So far with both version of rolls from eBay, I was pleased with outcome. With unsearched rolls in eBay remind me of comic books grab bags and they showing rare of the rarest comic books will included in one of those grab bag, but never happen. I did try few and I have sucker hat on.

That reminds me of my latest visit to an antique flea market. I did this grab bag thing with the foreign coins that looked like silver and none turned out to be. Of course the dealer knew exactly what he was selling, overpriced junk.
