Iam upgrading my lincoln and jefferson collestions from whitmans and 2 x 2's to dansco albums. I have a few questions though. At the perticular website that iam looking at i found that there are a few varietys with proof "ports" and diffrent things. Iam looking for the regular "labeled" albums. Can someone post a website in which i can find both the lincoln and jefferson albums.? Peter
The only other place I like is JP's Corner on eBay. Sometimes their prices are a little better and their service is great too.
Here is Jp's Corner. I have used them several times. For some reason I can't get into the site tonight.
I want to get a Dansco Album for my Cent collection but I think it has holes for the 1955/1955 and 1922Plan---is this right? I'm thinking of upgrading my later dates to BU and start to look for an upgrade for my 1914-D. Speedy
PETER, Just ask for CANDY that is her name and tell her Bruce from Mesa AZ said to call very nice people.
I too have purchased from Tradewinds. Over 1K in the last couple of months. Great place and Candy is the best.
Just out of curiosity, what was wrong with the Whitman ones? Or were you using the folders and not the albums? Myself, Dansco are OK but I just don't like the brownish color for the Lincolh Cents. By the way Whitman, Littleton and Dansco all have those stupid slots for coins that are not notmal coins such as athe 22 plain, 55DD, 72DD, etc. Also, you may want to see if there are any stores in your area that carry such albums. Occationally some hobby stores have them and for some reason are cheaper than on the web. Direct buying from Whitman is a waste. They charge more than at the stores. For instance the Red Book on the Whitman site is $14.95 for the soft cover, spiral version but at the Walmart web site they are $9.14. Another thing you may want to check out is if there are any coin shows in your area. Some have albums there that cost much less than on the web. by me the coins shows have such things as coin albums and no taxes, no shipping and handling, etc.
Carl there are no hobby stores near me..the coin show i go to regurally is one whole month away and i dont want to wait..and iam getting slowed down and want to keep going with my lincolns. And i like the dansco albums because they dont have to be forced in and they look real nice, color dosent matter to me...the collection does... Thanx for all ur help.. Peter
I agree the Dansco Albums do have an expensive look and more and more people are using them. I have never had a problem with the Whitman Albums but yes there is a problem with the Whitman folders. Note that the Albums are the ones with the plastic slides for inserting coins and both sides are visable. The folders are one sidesd only. The other thing is the availability of additional pages with Whitman. I have never found a place to buy additional pages for Dansco or Littleton very readily. Also, the Dansco Albums are a little thicker than the Whitman ones probably due to a better construction. With the Lincoln Cents I added enough pages to have all coins from 1909 to present and a few pages at the rear for all additional proofs from about 1938 up. Makes for a heck of a think coin Album but the seams haven't given out yet.
