    Hello All !!

1st time poster... As you can tell from my name, I am one of those metal detecting guys... but I am NOT an American Digger type... I love putting on the head phones and discovering our past...

Anywho... On fathers day I recovered 16 keepers... one of this was a nice 1818 (nice for being a dug copper) and after cleaning I was taking pictures and noticed that the reverse die is rotated 45 degrees CCW... If this a common error or no ??

Not common but not super rare either. Should bring a little premium.

Wow, you found that all on one day? That's incredible. I am an metal detector enthusiast as well and it's exciting if I get a wheat back cent let alone all of what you dug up. What part of the country are you from and what type of area are you getting these from? (Parks, old farms etc...?)

That was 7 hours in the Boston area... Private yard that had never been detected...

Wow, that is great. I am in the North Jersey area about 10 miles outside of NYC. I lived here since March and haven't found anything older than a 1918 wheat cent. There is a lot of old areas up here, but a lot of it is covered with so much junk, it's hardly worth detecting. I lived in South Jersey as well and detected there for about a year and found nothing at all pre 64.

On a side note, I did just recently find a mens 18k gold ring with about $345 worth of gold in it. :thumb:

The 1818 is N-5. Rotation of the reverse on this variety is not mentioned as it is on varieties commonly found rotated.

I saw the S on the back and was praying for 1896 or 1901 on the front... Still probably a $50 bill... not that it will ever be sold...

nice finds, but I disagree with $50 on the quarter, more like $6-8 ( IMO) it is a dug coin with ED.
