Hi, I recently got these Silver Dollars to start my collection. I was lucky enough to purchase these at spot. I was wondering what kind of grade you would give the Morgan 1882-S? It looks to me to be in pretty good shape and still has a nice shine/luster to it, with very little wear that I can see.

    Thanks!

I don't see any wear on the '82S, but if you think there's wear, I'd say AU58. If uncirculated, I'd say MS-62 or 63.

They are very nice starter coins. THat is how I began with Morgans 40+ years ago. :) The 82s is MS, the others obviously circulated. :)

I see no wear on the 82S. I'd go 63 on it.

The others are circulated and show the wear.

Well what a great way to start out, and it looks like you did well price wise!

I echo the sentiment of the above posters regarding the 1882-S. From those pictures it looks like a rather soft strike, and I'd say the coin is MS63.

The 1882-S is known as one of the best in the Morgan series strike-wise (with many other S-mint coins) and is thus in many people's type sets. This coin might not be the very best strike-wise but is still good, and with what looks like lots of luster. I think the chatter on the obverse knocks it down to a 63 but it is a nice coin, and you did well. :)
