Pretty interesting read. I managed to pick one up myself, its not in that high of a grade. But it was more of a random purchase.

That's what happens when time travelers from the late 1950's go back and grab up a rare date, and then dump them onto the market in the 1960's.

Those are, as always with your coins, real beauties!! What grade is the bottom one, 64DMPL?

63DMPL but it is real deep. You rarely see even a semblance of black and white contrast on a 04-O.

The story is good but isn't complete with how they were finally made common again. In the early 1960's with the rise in price of silver people started becoming a lot more interested in buying up silver dollars at banks. The banks then ordered coins that the Treasury had - which is how some of the scarcer dates that had been stored in vaults for nearly sixty years were finally released. The 1904-O Morgans were first noticed at a bank in Flint, Michigan in the early 1960's.
