I am trying to find an online database of Jefferson Nickel Varieties (except varietynickels.com). Anybody know of a site?
Anybody know of another site for nickel varieties, preferably with photos? Not varietynickels.com BTW, not quite in depth with info.
Paul who? Probably one of many known attribution guys like Overton, Sheldon, Norweb, Fivas, et al who have no stuff on the web so they can sell the info in their $100 books.
He'll be around, give it some time. Hobo can't resist a dime without a mint mark and Paul can't resist a nickels thread.
Ya know, he is right! I think one of the best Jefferson Nickel variety sites is the VARIETYPLUS page on the NGC website. The problem is that I think you have to be a member to access the information. I am not really a variety collector and have only really every been interested in the top 10 in the Cherrypicker's Guide. I have completed write ups on all of the varieties I have ever owned in threads inside the Jefferson Nickel Group over on Coinforums.com Jefferson Nickel Group. Paul
The Best of the Jefferson Nickel Double Die Varieties 2nd ed. is a great source. It is by John Wexler and Brian Ribar. Here's a good site to look at doubled die nickels and varieties on the co-authors web page. Brian's Variety Coins http://www.briansvarietycoins.com/shop/cat/3
