I know nothing about Flying Cents. It could be cleaned, damaged. ie ungradable. Just happened upon it about 5 minutes before auction's end and threw in the minimum bid to beat the next guy and wow, I "won" it.

Apparently, these are the biggest pics I can get. They were a little bigger in the auction. Never mind. They blew up when I posted. WOW!

    Is it possibly worth $40?

The images are a bit small but it looks like a nice coin. Looks like it would grade F to VF.
I'll guess the value at about $35. Some might pay more or less for a nice type coin.

Theres a few places on the rim that looks a bit funny to me. Also, does it look uncleaned to you?

BTW, these are really cool looking coins! I could see getting into them. Very nice in my opinion!!!

I can't really see much from the images. It's about 180X on my system.

I wonder why. They look pretty decently sized to me. Could definitely be better, but not real small or anything.

Yeah, its a $40 according to "eBay prices", but should be in the $35 area, I`d say obverse seems VF20, reverse slightly better.
The seller you got it from is selling some WEIRD 1921 morgan, not sure whats going on with that obverse crack.

The reverse looks a little fishy to me on your 1858, and the denticles look uneven on the obverse... Could just be issues created by angled low-res photos, or could be something with the coin...

Please try this. Right click on the image you see in this thread.
What is it showing you as the dimension?
Mine shows 399X. That is the coin and all the blue background.
The coin itself is less than 200x. It's not large enough to tell much.

What is it about the reverse that looks fishy?
How large is the image you are seeing.
Please right click it and give us the dimension it shows.

I left clicked it when it prompted enlarge. It didnt enlarge it but opened it in a new window. I then right clicked it and clicked on Elements. When I did this I hovered over the picture and my cursor was a magnifying glass with a '+' sign in it. I left clicked on the picture and it enlarged it.

    This is via google chrome.
