    Hello all,
My name is Travis and one day when I was trying to buy a drink from a machine it would not take my quarter. Upon examining it I noticed it was very different from other new quarters made in that year. I am NOT a coin collector so I don't know much about them but I play poker on the weekends and one of the guys there knows about coins. He told me the coin I have does not have any value but then he went on to say he likes to collect odd things and he would pay me $20.00 for this quarter. This made me toss up a red flag and hold on to it and try to find out more information about it. I want to know if it does have a value or just some kind of messed up coin. I've made some scans of it but my scanner is not the best of them so I will list what I see with the coin. I have no clue as to what I'm looking at so any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    I have 5 Pics
Q1 is the face you can see how the letters are bigger and not as detailed.
Q2 is the back and it's much like the face.
Q3 is the edge and you can see how it does not have slits in it.
Q4 is a different angle to see the slits are not there and the border it thick.
Q5 is a side view that shows how messed up the side looks.

Also the messed up quarter is a tad smaller then the other one.

Yea that was my thought also but it just seem so strange that someone would give $20.00 for 0.25 so I wanted a little more info 1st ;) Again thanks so much as I don't know much about coins

Tell you're poker buddy that you'll sell him the coin only on the condition that once the transaction is completed he must tell you what he thinks is so unusual about it. Look at it this way..........it cost you only 25c and you'd make a profit of 7900%. I don't think there would be any reason to pass that up.

There is no mint made error there. The others are rite, take the money and run.
