Yesterday did another mini road trip. Didn't keep track, so I'm just guesstimating.
    4 boxes: 1 64, 3 40%
    About $150 CWR: 1 64, 29 40%, all from the same roll!
    About $30 loose: nothing

    Weekly results:

    Quarters (54 rolls): Skunk
Dimes (122 rolls and 4 boxes): Roosie x12, Merc x1
Nickels (87 rolls and 2 boxes): War x8, 1976S Proof, 1992S Proof, and 1999S Proof. Proofy!
    Pennies (66): Wheat x20
    Halves ($24.50 loose and 4 boxes): 90% x2, 40% x4

Also 23 Ikes, one of which was a 1976D Type 1. That was my first rare Ike die variety for the year, out of 313.

Foreign finds for this week: 75c Canada, 15c Bermuda, 50c Ecuador, 10p10c Dominican Republic, 10c Panama, 30p UK, 40c Peru, 200L Italy, 25o Denmark, 30g Poland, and 70s Bulgaria.

This week was pretty good, since I finally had a bit of good luck with halves. I found a decently nice 1943P War Nickel to trade up in my Jefferson album (still have 5 holes in that one), and a 1956S Roosie for my Silver Roosevelt Dime folder. Now that I have so few holes left in both, it's really exciting when you finally find a coin you can plug in. Total silver found this week was 2.7053 ozt.

I think I've come to a conclusion on Ikes, I think I'll just keep the best one of every date/mintmark, in fact I'll probably end up ordering an album/folder the next time I order coin supplies. The rest are going to get dumped on an unsuspecting teller, maybe the one at the only bank this year (knock on wood) to cut me off from CRH!

My pickup bank tellers have been really great about ordering halves so as long as I can manage the extra trips to my dump bank, I'll be upping my volume from now on. I did find a local chain that carries black-and-white wrapped halves, but they would only give me half a roll (skunk of course) without an account. The manager was very nice and said I can "clean them out, order more, get 2 dollar bills, whatever" and the minimum balance is $100 so I may just open an account (yet another checking account, lol).

I've come to the opposite conclusion about Ikes. I search them whenever I can, and I've only ever found a silver Ike once (The first time I ever searched Ikes, a bank teller gave me $30 worth and one was a loose Blue Ike!), but I keep them all unless they have a major defect. This is basically on spec that the price will rise.

And I think there is some grounds for this. I recall reading another thread, I think it was in this forum, where a guy picks up common, circulated Ikes at face from banks and sells them at a flea market for $1.50. I also seem to recall an article a few months ago about how Ikes are primed to go up in value. Personally, I love them, so worst case I'm just hanging on to a few extra examples of a coin that I really like.

    Solid Saturday!

I get to change up my 'oldest coin from CRH' and post on the reject tube thread. A very good hunting day, IMHO.

    All Dimes
    box 1 - 48D, 17! :D
    box 2 - 48, 64 (x2), 64D
    box 3 - 51S, 59D, 60D, 62D, 63, 64D (most I've seen in a box)

16silver.jpg 1917merc.jpg that old lady sure has seen a lot of pockets!

Yesterday, 2 boxes of dimes, 2 roosies and a '63 Canadian. Also did a partial bag of nicks ($138, 2 war nicks) and a box of nicks (1 '23 buff). I'll probably pick up at least 2 boxes of dimes today, maybe more if I feel up to it.

Did a box of nickels this morning.

1st find - 1892 V Nickel! Not in great shape, but the date is readable. My 6th V Nickel overall (gunnin' for ya, Merc!), and my oldest coin found in a roll by 3 years.

2nd find - a gold locket! In the same box! My first time finding gold in a roll! The inside is stamped 14k, and it weighs 3 grams. I have found gold in reject slots before (I once found a 10k gold ring) but this is the first time in a roll! I put the value of it near 100 bucks with gold at $ 1627.

    I am super stoked!

Yeah, not sure how it made it in there. It was in a brinks box, with the plastic wrappers. It is a little thicker than a nickel, but fits into the area described by a nickel very well. Nearly the same weight. Very odd...

I would probably have to change my pants to if I opened up a box and saw an Indian head in there! Awesome finds.

I had a good week looking through a nickel box. I found:

    - 145 99.9% nickels
    - Five 12-Sided Nickels: 53, 60, 60, 60, 62
    - One nice looking 1968 nickel
    - One 25 cent from Venezuela

If anyone is replying to me personally, I am not seeing that. I get automatic emails that some has replied to my posts. So I am not ignoring anyone here, just don't have this site all figured out yet.

Sunday, banks closed, no rolls. Got a Canadian penny in change. 1963.

picking up 2 boxes of halves tomorrow.

and on a good note, my mom went to the bank today and spotted some halves in the teller tray. she doesnt know how to identify silver by the rim or year, but she sure as heck knows the sound it makes when it hits a table and she knew they were silver. she came back with a '65 and '68. :D
