Shadowing. From the die or just machine junk? Or does it depend?

    Here is a 1995 D cent:
    1995_Shadow_5.jpg
    You can see pretty clearly a shadow to the right of the 5 (and a bit less on the 9's)

    I've seen other coins with similar. I'm suspecting this is junk. Yes, no, depends?

    The correct term for this is DDD (Die Deterioration Doubling), it is common and considered damage, not an error or variety.
