ok so if no one has any information, can anyone tell me where I could at least find the approx value of one of these? I cannot find anywhere I can find the 1 oz and any other year but cannot find the 2001 1kilo. I did find a site that said out of a 1 to 100 scale of difficulty to locate a coin this one was a 100 but I have never been stumped on an internet search b 4?
Not sure what terms you are searching for that left you stumped, but I turned up mintage figures in a couple clicks. There are any number of sites with various Kookaburra / Perth Mint products information, in any of the various coins they mint. Obviously the specs wouldn't change from 2001 to now per weight, but you can see what Perth Mint currently sells them for, though the design may differ. Look at historic pricing and what silver spot price averaged in 2001 to get an idea about what they may have sold for that year. Use this PM calculator, punch in the numbers and calculate based on current spot price, for the intrinsic value of a 1 kilo coin. For a numismatic value, check eBay 'completed auctions' by using the advanced search feature. Try searching in non US auctions as well. Such prices found there may give you a ball park value, if any exists above bullion value for these. 1 kilo. Australian Silver Kookaburra Bullion Coin Mintage Figures: Year 2001: 3,108
yep I did the ebay advanced search and still came up with zero results, simply trying to find a value on it now and cannot even find a range. ty for your time though.
With a low mintage the amount of 2001 coins may not show many results, but try to draw a comparison from other dates that have sold of which there are plenty of auction results, both sold and unsold examples, on eBay alone. Be sure to search AU sites as there has been limited availability of Perth products to buyers in places like the US for example. http://www.ebay.com.au
