I've been lurking here for about a couple of months. Finally decided to post. I've enjoyed reading all of your finds! I started roll searching nickels a couple of months ago. Been doing about 2 or 3 boxes a week. I've found a few wars and buffs. Also found one almost featureless liberty. A few errors were found as well. I think I was more excited to find my rotated die and cud (seperate nickels) than anything else.

Today I decided not to get nickels and go look for halves. I got 96 dollars in halves and got one 40%. I also picked up 9 Ikes.

I have gotten alot of solid 2012 nickel boxes lately but I found a bank that has 100 dollar bags of CW nickels so I change them out with them.

My son, 11, picked up 5 rolls of nickels. The end on one roll was a war nickel. He also filled three other holes in his 38'-61' book. He has the two newer books filled already.

I'm doing about the same 3 straight skunks, and 1 40 %er in last 4 boxes. Has summer months been slower in the past? This is my first summer searching. I'd have to look but it's been a long time since I've seen a 90% er but I only do a box a week.

It funny how hit and miss the hunt can be. I enjoy reading about everyone's "finds", as it gives me a glimmer of hope.

After a killer find 2 weeks ago (2 Proof silver Roosies and 1 Mercury dime, all in the same roll!), nada. I've been thru:

    $200 in halves
    $40 in quarters
    $300 in dimes

    ... all skunk.

Yet, tomorrow is another day :)

    Today:
$1 in pennies, a dozen or so copper
    $10 nickles, 1946D
    $15 Dimes, skunked
$140 Quarters, a few ATB New Mexico, Puerto Rico but all D, I need NM Ps and Montana P, Oklahoma, Mississippi Ps. And one Canadian.
Bank lady had no halfs, but said she would set them aside when they come in.

And after all this, I didn't get an ATB Oregon P, but while in the parking lot, there was a quarter on the ground. Oregon P.

I recently completed a roll of Hawaii state quarters I had purchased from the Mint and fully 1/2 were die breaks with filled letters. Not too shabby and all B.U.!

2 boxes of dimes: 4 rosies, one of which is disgusting and has no silver color showing. I guess that's another reminder to always check the dates on the dirty ones if you edge check.

Good advice. I found a war nick yesterday that was about as disgusting and corroded as your roosie. But hey, silver is silver.

    Hey guys,

So yesterday I picked up a box of nickels... and shockingly (me and nickels usually aren't best friends when it comes to CRH) ... I found some pretty cool stuff :)

    - Three War Nickels (1944-S, 1942-P, and 1944-P)
    - Two '09's
    - A BU 1947-S
    - A good dozen or so pre-1960

    Good luck all,
    C.J.
