Hey guys, Im new here I was looking through a roll of dimes when i happened across a 1968 Jefferson dime with no mint mark. I know only the proof version is worth anything, but as far as I can tell the rim is perfectly flat and square. even compared to other normal dimes, no matter how i look at it there appears to be square edges. I can't post pictures today, but my curiosity is too great. Could some kid have spent his grandpas proof set on soda or something? or is there another variety of this coin that also appears to have square edges? Thanks!
Also, it appears to have been in circulation for awhile but is still in fantastic shape despite its age
Welcome to CT Pwal. To clarify, Jefferson is on the Nickel, Roosevelt is on the dime. Although odds are astronomically against your find being a 1968 No-S proof dime as there were 424 MILLION produced by the Philadelphia mint (all with no mint mark) for circulation, no one here will be of much assistance without some clear pictures of both sides. Please take some clear photos so that we can evaulate the surfaces.
Welcome, and we really can't tell what you have without pictures. Also Jefferson is on the nickel, its Roosevelt that's on the dime.
sorry about the million posts guys, im on my phone and its difficult haha.. ill try back in a few days with pictures
Jefferson on a dime!!!??? Wrong planchet error maybe? Just kidding. You have a normal ol' dime. Nothing special about it.
im Canadian, i only said Jefferson because thats what a lot of the threads about this particular dime over at coin community called it.. i guess they were wrong? lol
Fair enough. I can tell you Elizabeth II is on the Canadian dime, but there's nobody else on Canadian coins to choose from I guess. What's coin community? They were definitely wrong. Jefferson's on the nickel. He's one of the dudes with the powdered wig.
