This item commentates Zebulon Montgomery Pike 1779-1813. It’s the Southwest Expedition Commemorative Medal. It celebrates the first 100 years of the climb, 1806-1906.

I bought it sometime around September last year. The price was right and it looks nice. Actually, it was dirt cheap for what it is.

I have to tell you I would have bet that you were going to say you found it in another old box. But, seriously it looks cool. I would imagine the Unser family has all commenorative medals ever produced concerning Pikes Peak. I also read somewhere very recently Mark Cuban owns 43 or 45 2020 ASE V75 coins.

Nice one. I like so called dollars a lot; great variety and some good designs. I picked up a funky medal with Pikes Peak not too long ago.

Current Pike’s Peak climb record is just under 8 minutes compared to that Chevy truck at over 26 minutes

That’s a nice token. Sure wish I had one. 26 six minutes in 1935 was an outstanding feat. If I drove up to Pike’s Peak I’d probably best the 8 minute mark. I’m a true speed demon. My wife can testify to that. Lol

I was about 14, Living in Security, Colorado in 1962. Our Scoutmaster thought it would be neat to hike up Pikes Peak. Luckily, my father thought it was too much for kids our age to hike up there. Thanks, Dad.

When I was that age I hike the Appalachian Trail with my younger brother. We hiked from the MD/VA border up to Caledonian State Park in PA. It was a wonderful hike and I’m glad my parents let us do it. I would not recommend it today for kids that age.

Unreal sometimes to think of that far back. That’s what makes coins and anything for that matter at that age and times.

You should have seen his face when he saw it.
Said the only thing he could think about was Peugeot. I have a 70's Peugeot 10 speed in the basement. He goes they made cars?
