Giant Cud ?

Hello all. I was noodling through some world coins and came across what looks to be a giant cud. The blob is the exact same metal and color as the coin. The rim and edge of the coin have not been effected. There is also a second small cud just off the larger. It looks darker in the photo , but is the same color and metal as the coin.

What do you all think? Giant cud or something else.

    Cheers!

It is one with the coin and impossible to remove.

No, that is not a cud. The coin underneath is fine - and the rim that's exposed is not distorted.

That is extra material added to the coin. It looks like solder... like someone was practicing how to add a jewelry mount to a coin? You can see an extra dot of it in the wreath above. Clearly someone inexperienced.

I think it's solder or something like that. A cud that size would have significant weakness on the other side.

Agreed, the blob is in the shape it's in because the iron wasn't hot enough to heat the coin enough and the solder didn't flow. The circular pattern in the blob at the rim is where the iron was placed. It takes quite a bit of heat (and time) to get the coin hot enough to get the solder to flow. I've literally soldered THOUSANDS of electrical and electronic connections and that's definitely a cold solder joint.

Not a cud of any type. It looks like an extra piece of medal in the coin. Like a jewelry piece would have.

It looks like an adornment ring was manually attached and later broken off .

And perhaps plated after the material was added, making the coin and added material the same exact color.

Something spilled/attached to coin after the fact. It took on the color of the coin surface. JMHO
