Yeah, I read that thread and saw the episode. Still have not met a woman that collects coins. Any of you single collectors out there find a single female collector, you better snatch her up quick.
My grandmother began collecting coins at the age of 92. She began a State Quarter collection, and vowed to start another collection when she completed the 10-year State Quarter project. At the tender age of 102, she began collecting the Territories Quarters. This is Grandma with her modest collection. She was about 95 at the time. My mother was a collector of Proof and Mint Sets, and occasionally would spring for a key date coin, too. My wife also dabbled in coins, putting together a type set, and giving Proof Sets to the Grandkids. All three of them are gone now, sadly, but I do have a niece who collects foreign coins and a sister who is a school teacher, and uses US Type coins as a teaching aid to her students. Five generations of female coin collectors in my family. -The Coin Trader
Cool stuff. I'm considering joining the North West Coin Club out of Minneapolis. It's supposed to be a great club with a cool 1hr presentation on coins every meeting and half hour or so trading social before the presentation. Sounds like it could be very educational for a new collector.
