Hey guys. I have a customer who's father was an Israeli statesman and ambassador. I have bought many things from his estate but this piece has me confused. His son told me that this piece was a gift given by the pope himself to dignitaries... his father was a dignitary who received it. He said his father received this piece in the 1960's. I'm wondering if it would have any other significance besides melting it. It's 18k gold and is 46mm from top to bottom and 35mm across. It's also 9mm think at it's thickest point. The piece weighs 70 grams or 2.25 troy ounces. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I cant' find ANYTHING.
Someone gave me a medal of John Paul II a couple of years ago and I sent pics to these guys: http://www.vaticancoins.com/ They were very helpful and able to tell me what I had and what it was worth. Just a suggestion...
