Wow, to think that a seller with a name like "Thebarganbandit" might misrepresent something. I have lost my faith in humanity!
Well at least the feedback was changed. Sometimes when things don't turn out the way you want it too. Give the seller a chance to respond and see. I once had a problem auction with a coin and it took over a month and many many email to finally get the refund.
Next time I suggest you read the listing description more carefully than you obviously did. From the seller's listing: "Up for Buy it now is a 1938 P Wheat Penny ~ Solid Album Filler coin which will be pulled from a circulated roll with readable date - Good or better" You received exactly what the seller listed. There is NO scam here!
The picture on the listing is of a worn and circulated 1938 Lincoln cent. The seller's only photo on the listing. The description clearly states the coins will be pulled from a circulated roll with readable date, and in two places of the description, the seller states the condition will be Good or better. The OP got exactly what he paid for and was not scammed at all.
Not exactly what was listed. He listed a 38-P and the buyer got a 38-S. But I do think he went overboard leaving negative feedback before trying to work out a fix with the seller or a return. (Can you actually go back in and change your feedback you've left from Negative to Positive???)
Actually the eBay scam is that the OP is too young to even have a eBay account if what we have heard about his age before is the truth.
When the description is contradictory to itself and/or photos, it's always smart to send a message to the seller asking for additional information or look for another auction.
And no where in the seller's description does he state the coin pictured is the one you will receive. Only that an album filler will be pulled from an circulation roll. On this I agree 100%. The OP not only went overboard on negging this seller, but even filed a SNAD and received a refund. He should return the money to the seller and apologize. Yes he can go in and change his feedback, but the seller has to request it.
^This. Whenever I buy on Ebay and the picture does not seem to match the description I send the seller an email to confirm. A lot of people sell tons of stuff on ebay and sometimes make an error on the photo/description.
Did you read the entire thread ratio? The seller uses the same template for all his auctions, some showing much lower grade coins. He stated the coin was from a roll of circulated coins, good or better. The coin shown in the OP's original link was no beauty, but it sure did shine from being cleaned. If a buyer is dissatisfied with their purchase, then there are specific steps to be taken before dropping a neg. My opinion is the seller did not deserve one, and the OP retracted his.
Yes, a neg should only be given when the final transaction isn't acceptible for the buyer. Given the buyer didn't follow the correct steps (contact the seller with the problem and give them a chance to make it right), then the neg wasn't warranted. Now if he contacted the seller and the seller didn't offer to correct the issue to the buyer's expectations then you have cause for a neg. IMO, you have to be fair with negs, particularly if they don't have a high rep yet on Ebay because it can cause loss of business.
While that's how it SHOULD be, unfortunately in this era of pro-buyer eBay, they can pretty much abuse that system.
Yes, that might be but I still think that's the way is it should be.......call me old school I guess.
Come on! The guy is selling widgets, so do you really think he has anything to gain by being dishonest? Just think of the fees and expenses (not to mention time) to sell a $1 coin... makes more sense that this is a hobby for him. Maybe he is just trying to help average collectors out, so to be negged for something so trivial is absolute nonsense. What some people are so eager to hand out negatives for never ceases to amaze me, and this is another fine example of what is so wrong with ebay today. Do you understand that there are a lot of good people out there who refuse to sell on ebay because of this crap? I'd love to see you on the other side.. oh, and what was your username again?
rriicckkyy211 Already added to my blocked bidder list. Negging someone over $1.20, absolutely ridiculous! I wonder if mrbargainbandit wishes he could change the feedback he left for ricky: Fantastic eBayer Highly recomended please come Back anytime
