I usually sell tools. I always order at least $400 worth of $2 bills from the bank....I put 5 at a time on my table , held down by 5 Ike dollars.....some sucker is always drawn to the deuces. $2.50 a note or 5 for $11....I always say I have more of them available, they buy the 5 for 11, I had one guy buy 10 for 22 I'm talking the current issue ones. two years ago ,I got a few hundred worth of red seal deuces....my local dealer pays 2.25, I sold them all to one guy for 2.50 at the swapmeet. it's a ridiculous item to hold. I don't lie about this stuff, if somebody asks me if it is rare, I'll say NO....but they are fun to give as tips and such !
Haha, I used to sell straps of $2's on eBay, and I would make my 10% exactly on each strap after fees and such, meaning people paid more than 10% for the brand new straps. I mainly did it for feedback and establishment in the currency selling world on eBay. I disagree about holding the red seals. I think they are good to collect, but NOT the FRN newer $2's. Nice profile pic, BTW.
Speaking of $2 notes, I spent some at a local grocery store and the cashier held them in her hand, speechless for a moment and I asked if she had ever seen them before. She said she did, but never saw anyone spend them. I then told her they weren't anything special and you can get them at the bank. I try to spend $2 whenever possible. Oddly enough, here lately cashiers keep marking them with their markers, thinking they're counterfeit! LOL
Like the time I paid for movie tickets with Ikes...got the ENTIRE staff there looking at them. Yes, I had a pocket full beforehand, and I was significantly more comfortable after spending them.
I bought a cheap bottle of Vodka ( for guests) I pour Dubra into Stoli bottles. it doesn't make much differece. The kid at the market took a deuce from me ( sounds kinky ?).....he commented....I don't know where to put this bill..... I say :why not give it to next person you owe $2 and some change to ? Dude was like....that's a good idea ! I'm kind of waiting to get arrested for passing phony money (deuces) , so I can retire ! It was like talking to Jeff Spicoli ....
At a restaurant once, I tipped the waitress with 5 deuces. She immediately showed them off to all of the other waitresses, It was like someone had brought a new baby into the place. The excitement the all showed was like a freak show.
$2 bills are always fun to tip with and it's a shame they don't circulate more as they are my personal favorite among paper money (Jefferson on one side, a gorgeous tableau on the other). I usually tip with a combination of deuces, $1 coins, and half dollars. It makes sure the waiters/waitresses/delivery guys remember me and it does tend to cause some excitement as they're unusual, and that little bit of joy and wonder is worth it.
Every time I go to Taco Bell, I pay with dueces and they always check for security strips and watermarks, which last time I checked they don't have. They look in the light for a couple minutes and decide they're real.
I used to pay with 2's quite often. No one gives a rat's behind here in California. They don't even look twice at it.
