I bought this Indian Head a little while ago. I was wondering what everyone thought the actual value of the coin would be. I paid $38.00 for it. The VF Bid is $235.00, the F Bid is $220.00 and the Base G Bid is $70.00. THanks!
When I look at the coin in hand, the liberty is actually visible to a degree.. It's hard to tell in the picture
A VF should have a bold Liberty, not visible...."to a degree".....that puts it at a VG to Fine ( at best). Sorry, but that is an unattractive coin....sort of a hole-filler, can't really see why it's even in a slab, not much doubt that it is genuine. I'd much prefer a problem free AG-3.
Wow, pretty rough looking coin for VF grade. I would say, VG-8 or even G-6. Still $30 isn't bad, I've seen ones in this condition go for more. Like others have said, I'm not sure I would have slabbed that.
Yeah, that's a rough looking coin. It being slabbed only tells you that it's a real coin in very bad condition. I don't see it as a VF coin for any reason. I don't know what NGC was thinking, but that coin is not worth 1/2 what their website says a G rated coin is worth. Doug21 said it was worth $30. Maybe, but why own an ugly coin like this one? Sell or trade it for a better coin, even an AG3 or G4 with no problems. You'll enjoy a better looking coin more than this one.
What is environmental damage. If you don't tust NGC's grade they gave it why buy there slabbed coin? I thought they were well respected and I would trust them rather than random opinions on the Internet where you don't know what anyone's credentials are in the field. Why don't you ask NGC what the value is since they told you it had damage?
