anyone know a reliable source on purchasing the young portrait style english shillings? My dad gave me one when I was very young, and he bought it originally when he was very young... it is THE coin that got me into collecting in the first place - needless to say, treasured far beyond it's value in my collection. I'd like to get more in similar style. currently I only have the single 1880. thanks!
There are many sources for these coins. I don't know how ya feel about ebay - but that's where I'd look. But what quality do you have in mind ? I could recommend a few dealers privately if you wish.
I've purchased on ebay in the past. For some reason, every time I attempt to get one of *these* coins there, I get sniped at the end. It's like a curse of some sort - beyond that a good amount are being sold from the UK, and I don't like buying from international sellers on that forum. Though I have an excellent local dealer of foreign coins, he never has any of these particular coins in this particular style in stock...
