Is anyone here planning on going to the Heartland Coin Show in El Cajon tomorrow? It's from 10 am to 4:30 PM tomorrow at the Masonic Center on Ballantyne.
Cool...I hope to be there at or near opening time. Just look for the middle aged woman with short blondish brown hair and a nice smile. Intro yourself.
Nope, I am going to the one is Sacramento which is from 10-5. Tells you something about the size of California when you can have three different coins shows on the same day (third one is in anahaim).
Odd, the spring show is usually late in May. I can't remember a June date. I had assumed that I had missed it. They do a very poor job of advertising it. Jim
I only know of it because I picked up a xeroxed flyer on it at a coin shop. I have no idea how many dealers will be there, or what, but I'm going to go and see.
Anaheim is on Sunday. Starts at 9 a.m. until 3....or 4. Like that show cuz they do not charge admission. Plus, they do giveaways. P.S. Glad that it is not next Sunday cuz that is Father's Day.
How were the two southern shows? I was surprised how many people were at the Sac show when the doors opened, not a huge room but it seemed like there were always multiple people at each table. (didn't stay long with my 8 year olds first show, got there at 10 and left at 11). All dealers were very nice when my son asked about certain coins, special thanks to - McIntoshcoins for putting on the show and being very friendly. Moraga Numismatics for a good deal and giving my son a gold coin, he ate it right away (chocolate).
I really enjoyed it. I spent about 3 hours there, and there probably were 25 tables. When I got there all the regular parking spots were taken, so I parked just outside the bounds of the spaces, and someone immediately parked next to me, too. The dealers for the most part were sooooo nice, I got a 55 Bugs Bunny for my Franklin collection and it's really nice. I put the pic up on the new acquisition thread. One of the dealers mentioned that there were less people there today than the last show, so maybe it wasn't as productive for some of the dealers. I also got some silver dimes and some world coins (icelandic and some others) and three books: A Krause world catalog (2nd edition of 1994) for like 15.00 - 1801 to 1900, and two token books: The Standard Catalog of US Tokens 1700-1900 by Rulau (1994) and also Rulau's Hard Times Tokens (1980) which is the complete revison and enlargement of Low's 1899 reference on these. Those two, together, also only cost me 20.00 so I will get a lot of learning from a small amount of dollars. :smile I took some more pics of some coins I got and will be putting them up as a couple new threads, maybe.
Sorry to bring up an old post, but, FYI, there will be a another Heartland Coin Club this month: http://heartlandcoinclub.com/coinshow.html
