I have this nickel but I'm unsure what the little extra piece is. Could it be a cud or something added from a lamination error? Would it have an increased value? I know it's not the best picture, but it's the best I could do with my phone.
It looks like it could be a small die chip. If it was a cud there would be a raised blob of metal that starts at the edge of the coin and extends in past the rim. Any added value? Probably not.
