Hey everybody... I was checking on Google, came across the forum, noticed there had been some previous discussions about this topic in the past, and I'm gonna be the newest one to inquire...so: I just got a bag of coins, random stuff that doesn't appear to be of any real value. I don't collect, so my knowledge is so limited, trust me. Anyhow, the one coin that stood out was a very shiny quarter, dated 1965. There was another shabby looking '65 quarter in the bag as well. Side by side I noticed a difference, the shiny one didn't have any evidence of copper on the side. Also, it felt lighter. I decided to look up the various coins in the bag, and the '65 Silver obviously jumped out, because (supposedly) they don't exist. So what is the deal???? I'm including pictures. I'm sure there's a logical explanation, but I'm not a part of the loop, so I'm in the dark. If anybody's got any input, let me know, I'd be very grateful. Whether it's a rare coin, or some mass produced valueless coin, I'm just curious as to what the deal is. Check the pictures. Thanks, guys, in advance. looks copper'clad to me. Have a coin dealer or jeweler maybe a gunshop or your local drug dealer weigh it ! Really it just looks like a slot quarter !

I'm checking my rolodex for local drug dealers as we speak...so is a slot quarter like a dummy? Acts a counterfeit of some kind?

A slot coin is a real coin that has seen heavy use in a slot machine. They will show heavy wear, especially on the edge.
