Great post. Good info and great pictures. Only thing you are missing is the background info on each coin, how you got it, overpaid/underpaid, if you personally like the design or not, how recently you got the coin, etc. The reason I say that is you probably have a bunch of coins that could fit into each type slot, so the WHY for each specific coin you chose to represent the type is interesting (at least to me).

Also, why does the 2005-P look so banged up? Did you chose that one over a higher grade due to the reverse toning?

    Liberty nickels are smokin' hot!

Choosing which one to put in the album is always difficult. I actually rotate some out once in a while. My goal is to have a toned coin for every slot in the 7070. So that is the first thing I look for.

That 2005-p nickel....It's banged up because it was in my pocket when I decided I need an image of one. :)
In fact, the Dansco 7070 (at least mine) doesn't actually have a spot for the Westward Journey nickels.

Cool post! I too would love to hear if there is a story for how you got each coin and/or why you selected each specific coin as the representative of each type. I love the blue toning on the Buffalo recessed ground.

nice coins, aside from the 1866 w/ rays.

The other coins are going to gang up and beat it up, and throw it away.

Just because it is ruining the neighborhood.

    Otherwise, nice stuff

lol. I will say though, the ugly duckling (1866 w/rays) was one of the coins given to me from my dad when he gave me his collection. So it has more sentimental value than all the others combined. Except for the 1913 Mound Buffalo, which was also from my Dad.:)

I know this is nit picking (yeh, I can be a PITA) but based on the title of this thread shouldn't a nickel 3-cent be included.
And also -- oh, never mind. I've caused enough trouble already.

    I hope you are kidding.
This is about Type set for nickels. Not coins made with nickel. Then I would have to remove the War nickels, since they have no nickel at all.
3 cent nickel would go in a 3 cent type set.
    Ya know?

What about the newer Jefferson with the different obverse?

Which one would that be? Something other than the Westward Journey I posted?

Oh yeah! I don't even have any like that. So I wouldn't include it in my type set and there certainly isn't a spot for it in the Dansco 7070.

The Intercept Shield type album has spots for those. And the Westward Journey. They're newer than the 7070 I think.
And I know, it's not a dansco. I do love danscos, but the 7070 is reeeeally tough to find it seems.

What's included in the intercept album:

EDIT: That's, of course, not my type set. Just found the thread, and enjoyed the photos. Mine has a lot more empty holes.
EDIT EDIT: I realized I forgot to comment on the type set. It is very nice. Great toning on most of them.

Gbroke, even though I don't collect nickels those are some impressive specimens. The V-nickels even make me think twice about that series. Ah, heck, who am I kidding...makes me think thrice, but no more than that. Good work!
