I found a wheat penny that appeared at first site to be a heavly worn 1986 wheat penny. Though they stopped minting wheat pennies in59. Upon further investigation it appears to be a massive mint error where the 3 became an 8. Any one know anything about this?

    A photo would help.

Wheat cents were not produced in 1986 so your coin is almost certainly dated 1936.

And if the 3 looks like an 8, or even IS an 8, it's possibly fake, for reasons Hobo, and you, stated.

It's a wheatback, and that's all that can be told from those pics. Date is unreadable from your photos.

Very corroded wheat, but difficult to be sure on that date.

Not possible since the date is on the master hub. Just a normal cent but corroded.
