    Hello all!

I was hoping for some opinions regarding the condition/grade of this 1938 U.S Wheat Cent. I understand that the value will not be high at all (but I'm not looking to sell it). I just started an early cent collection (as well as new to the forum :)) and want to get a basic understanding of what grade would be appropriate for a coin like this. Any descriptions or details would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hello! Welcome to CT!

I cannot tell for sure, but your coin is either 45 or 50.

I'd say either XF40 or XF45... I'm definitely not an expert grader though.

Looks like an XF-45 with a great strike.

The penny is probably worth about $2, but the paper looks like a 1938/9 date error. That's a keeper!

I'd say 50 since the top of the ear looks distinct and separate from the hair.
