That's right, folks! eBay has doubled the number of companies whose grades may appear in item descriptions. They will now allow ICG and ANACS as well as PCGS and NGC. Personally, I don't have any problem allowing these two other TPGs as I believe that they are also competing to be the best in third party grading rather than being self-slabbers. I also don't think that eBay buyers will be confusing these with NGC and PCGS any time soon and so the potential market for these slabs will be largely determined by how collectors perceive them in their accuracy. I think that they are at best second tier TPGs, but they are not self-slabbers. These slabs should sell at a discount but it is only fair that they be allowed. As an aside, I don't know of anyone who deals in ANACS or ICG coins other than HSN, so I don't know. maybe eBay will become the vast dumping ground for people looking to cash out when they figure out how much they overpaid. They may be available at bargain prices, who knows?
Wait...I'm confused. I thought that PCGS will now only consider NGC and PCGS as "acceptable" graders? Or are they adding ANACS and ICG to the mix as well? EDIT: Duh, forgot to read the title. Looks like good news to me; now it won't screw over all the people with ANACS slabs.
Maybe ANACS and ICG will tighten their grading a little . There's still some nice coins , if you look in those slabs .
I wouldn't hold my breath for any change, Rusty. There are nice coins in all sorts of slabs., but you have to know how to grade them before you can tell.
I thought I told you guys a long time ago they got out from under the bus.... BTW the main cause of them not being approved was that neither had online certification number vitrifaction available which both now have added to their websites.
