Went to list a 1884 GSA Carson City. Got an error and was unable to list according to EBAY because they are not approved? If I remove all reference to GSA I suppose I could get it listed, but....

That's because GSA is not a TPG.

However, if you submit that to NGC, as they are currently the only TPG grading the GSA Morgans I think, you could list it with no problem.

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

That is absurd. There are tons of them that are described as GSAs.

To clarify, where exactly are you using the term "GSA" in the listing?

The G.S.A. is /was in the description only-no mention of GSA in the title. Partial description follows:
THIS AUCTION IS FOR A 1884-CC CARSON CITY SILVER DOLLAR*G.S.A.*

Apparently their mention (GSA) will not work for a listing. Of course the work around is not to mention GSA and let the picture speak.

However, I don't like the idea of Ebay forcing me or you to send this coin to a TPG and NOT accept GSA to the point where one cannot even mention them. The experts are wrong on this issue in my opininion.

You have to be listing the coin as slabbed or encapsulated for it to be kicked back with the term GSA.
Make sure you list the coin as "RAW". If you list it as otherwise, it will kick it back as unapproved.

It is not the use of GSA that is messing you up, but rather giving the eBay system the impression that
the coin is slabbed or graded. That is the problem, not the GSA.

Actually I believe GSA would clear ebay's b.s. if it's listed as Oringinal govn.'t packaging or U.S. mint for the certification service (which ever they are using now) since that was the way they came from general service admin. This also might MIGHT let you add the fact it's a mint issued GSA in the title as well. I am assuming here that you have the certification that accompanied the coin when it was first issued just so any buyers can't complain later on about it because we know how well that works out for sellers on ebay. I also know some sellers put the original cert. in the pic with the coin or as a seperate pic to keep ebay off their backs.

The mint didn't seal those, GSA did the sealing. Advertising these as "mint sealed" would be misleading, too.

Edit. I don't know how it happened but the previous post went up three times. Sorry.
