So I went back to a local shop that I went to yesterday. It is more of a jewelry place with literally a closet for their coin area. Yesterday was my first stop there and I quickly realized everything he had (which was literally a couple hundred coins if that) was overpriced. Not wanting to leave emptyhanded, I asked if he had any junk silver to look through, and I managed to find a couple nice AU toners and such at just over melt. Well I go back today and the guy seems annoyed that I'm there. I ask to see his junk bin again and he says he sent it all out except for a small tray. Hes like "how much do you want?". I asked politely if I could just look through again. He says rather rudely with a sigh "90% is 90%" but gives me the tray. I looked through for a few minutes and pull out a couple walkers, Barber dimes...and then as I'm about to leave I spot it... I couldn't believe my eyes! I paid for my 2.6oz of "90% is 90%" silver haha and left. I didn't feel bad either cause of how rude he was. Like, I'm sure he puts up with a lot of annyoances, but seriously. I was there and spent money yesterday...so I'm probably going to do the same today, right? And after all...he is there to make money. From now on I'll go elsewhere...except for my random stop there to look through his junk bin! The best part is I've been eyeing some 1914 Barber halves lately to finish my set. I was looking for more of a high-end VG, but this will suffice for now.
Thanks folks! This is the 2nd best find I've had in junk. The best was an 1860-S Seated Lib quarter. Got it for 3 bucks a few years back and sold it for $229 a few weeks back. On its best day it was probably an Fr-02. Not a bad investment! There are good finds in those bins so take the time to look!
Wow, nice find! Now, for the first time ever, I am interested in searching such bins... I just have to get back into the US first.
